So how much better is Vista over XP? Most consumers would probably not be bothered (@least not yet).

I think it says it all, Vista is far to be mature, it is fully bugged, largely vulnerable, and Microsoft market share will keep sliding down.
I am not a Mac evangelist nor an brrain-less addicted, but Microsoft is going down the hill, I think Vista will not be another XP, I think it will rather be a new Millenium edition

IMHO, any Windows version should not be installed until first service pack is available

SP1 for Vista is expectedto be released in september.
