IHS iSuppli has studied the demand on the market for the hybrid hard disk drives fitted with a voluminous cache memory as FLASH nand; the only model marketed is the Momentus XT to Seagate. According to projections, is to sell two million units this year and by 2016, 25 million units.
They will in fact largely overtaken by the SSD cache, these small capacity SSD between 30 and 64 GB that are installed in PC and become large cache disks due to system software implemented by Intel or directly by the manufacturers of these products (it does notbwork on Mac OS X). Their sales should exceed the 160 million units in 2016.

On the side of "pure" SSD co,posed of only FLASH memory, they continue to grow slowly. In 2016 69 million units should be sold so it remains very low growth. We do not know if these forecasts speak only of SSD in 2.5-inch format or if they also take into account these bars as offered in the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Retina.
Indeed, given the success of these computers Apple might soon become the first provider of SSD in the world and affect the market of controllers as much as the company already does via its huge purchases of NAND memory Flash.

Great to see that Apple is not too small in the market like it was by some years ago. Now it is the one that dictates rules even in the PC-Windows market, hehehe!!!!!
