Full Version: Mac Pro upgrade, but it's not obvious

Apple upgraded the Mac Pro line without making any announcement about it and it is pretty hard to notice:

  • Same graphics cards
  • Same CPU configurations with 4 to 12 cores
  • No Thunderbolt
  • No USB 3.0.

There are just 4 Firewire 800 ports, nothing that will convince professionals that Apple still cares about that computer. It just looks like they did the minimum upgrade just so we can't say that there was none. It is probably one step closer to the Xserve now.

Since last night the Mac Pro is:

-apparently not discontinued
-somewhat cheaper
-looking tired
-still in need of a serious upgrade
-stiring up a lot of pro communities
-very much in the rumour mill the coming months
-Apple's most mysterious product
