Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, the new division of Western Digital, unveiled a prototype of a SSD based on a 12 Gbits/s AS interface.

As expected by the name and specifications, such SSD could offer data transfer speed up to 1.2 GB/s. On paper it could even be possible to associate up to 4 connections to offer up to 4.8 GB/s.  A demo of this prototype will be carry out at the SCSI trade association Conference. According to Hitachi, this interface could become default and/or standard for Pro-oriented SSD solution in 2013.
