Full Version: Airport Expressx Question Using Xp

Greetings everyone, Please point me somewhere else if this is the incorrect forum.

I am running XP Pro and purchased an AirPort Express Base Station Model A1084.

My requirement was to relocate and operate my HP Printer wirelessly. I have a D-Link
wireless router (D-524) and plugging in the APX within 5 feet of the router and the
printer attached, all I can get is the flashing yellow light.

Running the Airport Assistant suggests I should see a steady green light. I connected
the output of my dsl modem and still receive the flashing yellow light.

Is there anyway to prove this unit is operating correctly?

Any suggestions please,

Many thanks,

Dave...

Thank you, I didn't know what happened to this post.

Just to up date, this unit was advertised "Airport Express b/g not n" which to me is fine (I thought) as I only wanted to use it as Client to operate wirelessly my printer and my iTunes on my stereo.

The only problem I'm having is when I plug it in and try to find it on my asus eee laptop the wireless network is not recognized. Plugging it in using the ethernet cable also nothing. I am using Win XP Pro SP2 and the Ex just flashes Yellow. My concern is whether it is functioning or was the unit doa?

Anyway, any help will be appreciated.

do you see any wireless network when screen for access with your PC.
at first here we are a Mac hardware forum.
Did you follow procedure to plug the Airport from your router.
are all devices connected to your router having internet?

Thanks, Saw nothing and ended up taking it to an Apple Genius. The
Apple Genius said there wasn't a signal coming from the unit and as
it was out of warranty told me to throw it in the garbage, so I left it
with the Genius and went home.
