The development of the WiMax, a revolutionary wireless system able to provide cable-free high speed internet over long distance, might be slowing down despite enthusiastic expectation or capabilities of this system.
Most companies involved in developing WiMax devices, peripherals or components are modifying their strategy: Ericsson stopped all on-going development of WiMax-dedicated products, while other manufacturers have slow down their investments or R&D plans.
If Intel, main initiator and supporter of this technology does not give a strong signal in a near future, this highly anticipated and advertised long-distance wireless system might simply become a new candidate for the vaporware awards.

another example to show how impt. is it to have the big brothers to take lead. unless something is really exceptionally wonderful, otherwise, there would be lukewarm and slow adoption. so many pretty great ideas or ideas that improve on current technology, but it isn't cost effective to excute such a change. a simple quick example might be how Apple (or any other c.o.) impleaments changes with their products. However, the setback is that we might have to wait a little longer for releases, kinda like how long we've been waiting for the Quads-Quad.
