After already offering the latest Velociraptor and some other models in the Black range (high efficiencies), Western Digital announced new discs in the Blue range (average performances) also equipped with this SATA III interface which can reach a data flow of 600 MB/s. These models will have capacities of ranging between 320 and 640 GB.
Of course, no mechanics of hard drive can exceed the 300 MB/s of the SATA II. Technically, only the cache (32 or 64 MB) will be able to exceed this data flow and will be of interest to the SATA 3, but it will be quite minor if not invisible.
Today, the only hard drive which is of interest to SATA 3 is the SSD C300 de Crucial which is able to greatly exceed the 300 MB/s in reading.
