Just a warning, that link leads to an automatic download, so don't click it unless you want to download the latest version of Adium. If you are looking for what I was looking for then you can find the version log here

AH yeah... 'bout time too... soon they were going to outbeta Google ;-)
Seriously, been using the 1.0bxx for ages, and it really is the greatest IM client. Now if they could only add AV chat support that would be a blast, even if I recognize thqt would be a huge amount of work, what with each client using its own proprietary system.

The AV technology depends on the software/protocol, e.g. MSN and iChat AV capabilities are not based on Jabber.

I personaly used Adium a long time ago than switched to iChat do be able to do video-conferencing (yeah, the 4-people video chat is really cooooool cool.gif ).
For my contacts on MSN (pretty popular in France sad.gif ), I used the Jabber bridge from within iChat but I didn't like it so much (a lot of time, the bridge is not running and you don't see your contacts and with Jabber in iChat, you can not exchange files with MSN contacts...)

I went back to Adium some weeks ago and I really love it wub.gif

When I have people who could do video conf, I just switch to iChat for the video-chat wink.gif

I also have Skype for video-chatting with my firiends on PC - works well but is not as cool as iChat for this...

i concur with Cri-cri.
btw, how does Trillian 4 measure up against Adium? anyone has any idea? all i do know is that their UI and etc seems heavily borrowed, again, from Apple.

last i read about Trillan (Pro version), it could do audio (i assume video too).

I don't know anything about Trillian, haven't tried yet (the current V3 is Windows only).

Trillian 4 is still Aplha, I don't even know if there is a downloadable version yet...

More information on Trillian 4

it is a limited beta/alpha group of testers i believe. i don't have it either (even if i had it, i won't have a usable PC for that, the PC i have is P1mmx 233 Mhz running Win 98se ... haha, but have to keep that for accts.)

I have yet to get my mac mini, but i always play around with my friends mac. I was wondering if i should use AdiumX or iChat when i get my mac mini. my friend says that AdiumX is extremely buggy, but he hasnt used it in a while. Are most bugs gone now? or is he just exagerating, bc i see alot of people using AdiumX. thanks

AdiumX evolved a lot since the previous post, and you could use it without much fear.
If you aim to chat only with Mac users then use iChat, otherwise AdiumX will give you freedom to connect with other chat protocols (mainly Win-based)

No problems with Adium here. You will download it from them, it will not login to facebook until you update it. Strange but other than it needing updated right after install is the only bug I've found. Works fine.
