Firmware 1.5 for the OCZ SSD, 22/01/2010 - Your reactions

OCZ offers a new firmware update for its SSD Agility and Vertex (except Turbo). The update 1.5 applies to the disks that were already running 1.4 or 1.4.1 and supports simultaneously Garbage collector and the TRIM (see here for the explanations). Garbage collector would be also more aggressive, and the parameters of Wear-leveling adjusted.
Although it does not erase the data of the disks, we strongly suggest that you make a backup before the update. It is applied in a traditional way, downloading and then burning a freedos image on a CD; it is then necessary to restart and to follow the instructions. Be patient, sometimes there are long pauses although the update strictly speaking is done in one second.
We updated Vertexes successfully on a MacBook Pro 2009 and one Mac Pro 2008. Attention, if you installed a SSD under Superdrive by using the SATA ODD connectors on the mother board, it will absolutely be necessary to connect the discs to the "classiques" connectors so that they are seen and can be flashed. In fact, these two ODD connectors use the standard AHCI and are not recognized by the installation CD .
