After couple of weeks of inaction, Apple finally filed suit on July 3 against Florida company Psystar, Inc. The suit alleges counts for violation of its shrink wrap license, trademark and copyright infringement. Psystar's decision to launch a Xserve-like base offer might have been the starting point of Apple's legal action. we will have to wait for months before knowing the end of the story. Psystar and Apple can either find an agreement, implying the first one to stop selling Open Computers, or the judge will decide which company is right.

I hope Psystar dies in a fire. They are commercially selling the open-source, free work that many people performed on the OpenOSX project. That is against the open-source licensing.

If Apple doesn't win, they will have all kinds of trouble with other vendors doing the same thing for a quick buck.

Having run OpenOSX (10.4.6) on a PC before, it is definitely not the same as running OS X on a Macintosh. You can't run most software updates and there are little incompatibilities all over the place. (Psystar also has these problems!) It's not worth all the aggravation and trouble. Buy a real Mac and be done with it.
