Continuing their intervention in the Ultrabook market, Intel has decided to tackle the format of their SSD.
 The format of the format mSATA SSD arrays is now considered too short by Intel, which wants to extend it in order to exceed the capacity of 512 GB and thus be able to put more chips on it. The new format will have the name ... Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF) and is very similar except should have a length of 6 or 8 cm while keeping the same thickness and the same width. It will be very close to what Apple offers in its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Retina.  Caution, however, Apple does not use the connector mSATA but its own propeietairy one so that these new SSDs can not be installed in the Mac, which is unfortunate since their mass production should significantly lower their prices.
