Initially to compete with a new French Carrier, Free Mobile, Orange, the historical French carrier, and one of the largest carrier on Europe, has decided to speed up the deployment of its 4G network. It plans to install hundreds of antennas in main cities in order to make 3G obsolete in such area. Of course, customers will need new mobile phones and smartphones to benefit from such high-speed network and the current offer with the European 4G LTE frequencies is rather limited. We suspect that Orange is probably pressing Apple with all main European carriers to make sure that the iPhone 5 will also support European 4G frequencies (also adopted by almost the rest of the world, beside USA and Canada...). Apple cannot really get ride of a market potentially larger than USA, and the fact that the New iPad does not and will not work on European and rest of the world 4G LTE networks might on the long-term impact its sales.
