Screen captures from Intel internal documents seems to indicate that the future Xeon CPUs would be dramatically faster than the current models.
![]() ![]() According to such information, the new Xeon E5-2690 clocked at 2.9 GHz would be 1.5 to 2.2 fold faster than the fastest current Xeon X5690 clocked at 3.46 GHz. there are several reasons for such differences: it hosts 8 cores instead of 6 for the X5690, it supports the Turbo mode, it has with 4 memory channels instead of 3, and the QPI (inter-cores connection) are faster.
