OCZ announces a new version of its Colossus, the LT.
![]() The new model keeps the same data flows, the same format, 3,5" , the same capacities, but sees its price (very high) dropping by 5 to 10%. To arrive at this result, OCZ passed from using MLC Flash memory engraved in 50nm to chips engraved in 34nm. We suspect under these conditions that the two controllers used in RAID 0 evolved also and are Indilix Eco which support this finer memory. Even though they are a little less powerful, this should not be seen since the RAID has the needed power to hit against the limits of the SATA II. At this rate of fall of the prices, it will still be necessary to wait many long years before Colossus is a possible option in a configuration with an affordable price By crispin, original by Lionel |
