I am looking for a programm which will search my MAC and look for graphic files.
Show them in a directory view, and let me run a slideshow of the pictures. On my PC I have been using Thumbs PLus for many years and liked it, is there something similar? |

Graphic Converter will definitely do that for you, even if it might be a bit overkill/a hassle since GC is before all an image editor...
I'd say iViewMediaPro is the best, but it is not exactly a "small" program and costs 169... You might want to check these two tools: - image browser - http://www.simulacrum.net.nz/imagebrowser.php (free) - simple image - http://www.simpleimage.com/ ($25) |

Thanks so far.
I really dont need a graphics converter. Its just that I receive tons of pressrelease pictures, and just want a simple way to browse through them. |

In fact, I proposed Graphic Converter because this software can do this (not only the conversion)
 Another option, if you have Photoshop, is to use the contact sheet feature (you can make a droplet as well )Last software, Gallery, which is able to automatically generate contact sheets (initially for generating web pages). It is a nice product and it is free

i'm for graphic converter too. u don't need to use it for just converting graphics. don't be mistaken.
apart from that, u can always go with Apple's iPhoto. the searching may need to be done manually though. i think the point first is to get something to search ur mac ... (btw, are u sure u want ALL the graphics to be located .. i.e. inc screensavers and etc ...) ... ... |

The nice thing with Thumbs was/is you start it and have it check your disk. It then creates a little db where it stores the thumbnails. And in Thumbs you have then on the side an explorer view and every directory which contains pictures is highlighted. If you go to the directory it shows you the thumbnails, then you can open the pic or run a slideshow (think you can even do more but thats all I used it for) If the slideshow function of finder would work as advertised I wouldnt need something different, but I noticed that quite often it does not show the pictures in the right order, even if they are numbered. |

Yep, this is very annoying  Impossible to get the slides in the right order, it is always randomised
