Apple gives very often internal information to its Authorized Service Providers (AASP). Sometimes that information is strange, as the one that was recently leaked .
It says that some 2010 15" MacBook Pro users bring their computer in because it starts "tinking" or "clinking" when the computer is moved or when one pushes on the top of it. Now that we know that, it is still impossible to know what the cause of that noise could be, and it will be even harder now that we know that Apple is asking to the service providers not to intervene on these computers, because the noise cannot cause any hardware problem on the computer. Apple's answer it clear. It is not a hardware problem, so no service is provided. Since we have never had the problem on our laptops, we cannot tell whether the noise is very disturbing. My 2010 15" MacBook Pro i7 2.66Ghz has this issue. It's the weirdest sound. It's actually quite loud and super annoying. I can post a video if people are interested.
