In 2008, the US Justice launched a major investigation among LCD panel manufacturer under the suspicion of infringing anti-trust laws, and more precisely of secret agreement among LCD display manufacturers to keep high prices. Identified guilty, 6 out of the 7 companies sued in this lawsuit decided to pay the fine instead of going to the court. In total, they paid 890 millions USD, with 400 millions only for LG. AU Otptronics was the only manufacturer to refuse such agreement and to go to the court. Today, its U.S. subsidiary and two executives Hsuan Bin Chen and Hui Hsiung (shuhng) have been found guilty under the charges of working with competitors to artificially maintain high prices of LCD panels used in computers,, monitors and TV. The company decided to appeal, as the potential fine might reach 1 billion USD...
